#AmReadingChallenge – WEEK 3 The Curiosity Keeper (& Giveaway)

It’s still SUMMER!

We made it to WEEK 3 of our summer #AmReadingChallenge — and we’re reading The Curiosity Keeper by Sarah E. Ladd. I must give a disclaimer here on two counts: 1) I LOVE Regency novels, and 2) Sarah is a good friend and uber-talented writer… Those two things mean that I am addicted to anything she writes! 😉 This book has been burning a hole in the top of my nightstand for months — especially since I had to finish writing my last novel and didn’t have the time for reading those months. But now, it’s time to read! (And I am sooooo happy about that…)

As a reminder, here’s how our #AmReadingChallenge works:

  • We’ll read (1) book a week together. You don’t have to officially sign up — just read along and chat with us on social media!
  • I’ll post a weekly discussion thread here on the blog (and on Facebook), so we can discuss the books together. Be sure to use the #AmReadingChallenge hashtag on social media, so we don’t miss any of the discussion posts!
  • We have a #Giveaway each week. Answer the question below to enter this week’s giveaway: A DVD copy of my favorite movie, Pride & Prejudice (2005), & a $5 Starbucks card (so you can get hyped up on sugar and caffeine while watching the Jane Austen awesomeness…)
  • To enter, add a comment to this post between 7/20/15 and 7/26/15, with an answer to the following question:

What’s your favorite Regency story and why?

(For me, my favorite has always been Pride & Prejudice. Swoony SIGH…)

Our winner’s name will be drawn by Monday 7/27/15 and announced here on the blog. So keep on enjoying your summer — and HAPPY READING!

With JOY,

  1. I am so happy to see all of the Jane Austen love. I feel so unoriginal, but it is my all time fave, as well. I first read it in 9th grade and it is the only book I have ever re-read in its entirety. I also appreciate all of the movie and TV adaptations, regardless of the liberties they may have taken.

  2. I think I’ve only read two: Wuthering Heights (that is regency, right? haha!) and Lady of Willowgrove Hall. Enjoyed them both!

  3. Hi Kristy! Pride & Prejudice is still probably my favorite, but there are a lot of ones I like. 😉 I’m reading The Curiosity Keeper this week too. It’s the first book of Sarah’s I’ve read so far and I’m loving it.

  4. I love P&P without fail as well as some of her other books, but I always choose that. I could go with Edenbrooke or Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson, Seeking Persephone by Sarah M. Eden, or The Maid of Fairbourne Hall by Julie Klassen. Decisions, decisions. I think what they all have in common is fantastic writing, loveable characters, humor, and swoon-worthy romance. 🙂

  5. Oh awesome! I put this book on hold at the library a while ago and I’m still way down on the list so I won’t get to it this week, but soon! 🙂
One of my favorite all time regency romances is Edenbrooke. So clean and so sweet.

  6. I can’t pick just one regency story. There are just so many good ones. Marion Chesney’s regencies hold a special place in my heart because her books were my introduction to the regency period. Thanks for the giveaway!

  7. I would say anything by Julie Klassen! She was the first author to introduce me to the Regency Period and I just fell in love with that time!
    Thank you for the giveaway!

  8. Picking a favorite is always so hard. I love anything Jane Austen, especially Pride and Prejudice and Emma, but I also enjoy authors such as Sarah M. Eden and Sarah E. Ladd. 🙂

  9. Pride and Prejudice is an obvious favorite. But I really enjoyed Ladd’s ‘A Lady at Willowgrove Hall’. I’m looking forward to reading ‘Lady Maybe’ by Julie Klassen!

  10. I don’t know the answer to the question because I don’t think I’ve ever read a regency romance. I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice, but maybe I should. Thanks for the giveaway.

  11. Definitely Pride and Prejudice, but I also love Sense & Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Elizabeth Gaskell’s Wives and Daughters, and the Bronte girls 🙂 (books, not films for Bronte. definitely.)

  12. I love these!! But I can’t choose my favorite Regency story, Can I pick an author instead? I adore Julie Klassen!!!!

  13. Oh dear, I LOVE regency so I’m not sure I can choose! I also LOVE pride and prejudice and I love A Flower in Bloom if that counts, The Secret of Pembrooke Park, Before the Season Ends, A Reluctant Courtship, and Brent Wood’s Ward! Have I mentioned that I LOVE regency? 😉 LOL!

    Many Blessings, Amada (pronounced:

  14. Pride & Prejudice, most definitely! It is a beautiful story about true love overcoming the obstacles that life throws at them. Jane Austen’s work have an amazing feel to them, with romance and humour being the highlight! I JUST read The Curiosity Keeper! I couldn’t wait until this week because I had a deadline for reviewing purposes. But I will say that I was thoroughly entertained!

  15. Of all the Austen books, Persuasion is my favorite. I inhale anything by Julie Klassen and just recently “discovered” Tamera Alexander (Jane Austen with a murder mystery twist . . .yes, please!!)

Can’t wait to read along with this one!!

  16. I have to say Pride and Prejudice! Just because that’s the only one I can think of 🙂
