I couldn’t help it.
I just had to dub June 8th as Mable Ringling Day. (It’s my website so I guess I get to do it! Ha!) It’s the 87th anniversary of the day the world lost this remarkable woman, so we’re celebrating her life in a tribute today.
If you’re already reading The Ringmaster’s Wife, you know that June 8th factors into the story in a big way. And for me personally— a researcher and writer who has come to genuinely admire Mable— it’s a day that feels bittersweet.
I’ve dedicated almost two years of my life to telling her story. Between the research and the onsite experiences, the writing and rounds of editing… it’s been a journey that I’ve had the privilege to walk along with her. And as my dear reader friends out there (because I know you take books as seriously as I do), I want this day to be a day Mable is fondly remembered. I think we do that by touring one of her most beloved places on earth— the Cà d’Zan (or, “House of John” in Venetian dialect) in Sarasota, FL.
So sit back. Enjoy. Soak in the color and vibrancy of circus life in the Jazz Age, as I take you on a walk through history…

Yesterday was release day for The Ringmaster’s Wife and today we celebrate Mable. (It just feels right, doesn’t it?) I’m so delighted to be able to share this journey with all of you— and to give you a peek at Mable’s world.
I hope you come back soon, as I’ll be filming more Research Files videos in the next year. (I can’t wait to share what we’ll be researching next…) My hat’s off to you, fellow researchers!
