“I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
—Psalm 4:8 (NKJV)
There’s a peace and calm in owning a place of safety. (It makes me think of Dorothy’s famous line: “There’s no place like home! There’s no place like home!”) We don’t just visit our safe place for a while. We don’t stop by, then move on. Instead, we sleep. Stay. Rest and recharge. We move in — and dwell — and make then place our haven. It’s a beloved home. There we can be our authentic selves. There, we’re content.
I don’t know about you, but a mid-week reminder that we have a dwelling place in Christ brings me peace to carry my busy-busy heart on into the weekend.
