“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
There’s a covenant in this text. The promise of something sweet. And I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel like I’ve pulled my chair up to the table with an empty bowl — and it stays empty.
I know that God’s promises are sure. That His treaty with His people isn’t something that can or will be broken. But it’s sometimes hard to wait. (I think that’s the moral of the story here. Something sweet is on its way; we’re just hard-pressed to see it.)
Remember this mid-week that you have a place at the table. There’s a covenant with you too. And just because the abundance of blessing isn’t filling your bowl yet, doesn’t mean the ladle is not ready to tip it out. It just may be a different blessing than you expected. Praying for financial provision? Seeking for a new path? Maybe He’ll pour out His spirit instead, and you’ll find a blessing unexpected.
