“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.'” —Matthew 9:37 (NKJV)
There is some kind of harvest happening this week — a convergence of writers-in-the-faith at the national #ACFW2016 conference, all gathered for encouragement, support, edification and learning in our craft. This verse always seems to do a number on my heart of hearts as it reminds that no matter where I am, how I respond and recognize and restore others is the TRUE work for which we’re called (writers or not).
How am I speaking love (and maybe a little “I’m right there with ya” truth) to the other overworked mommas around me? How am I giving of my time and energy to uplift others? What actions show that I’m concerned — God, please help me learn empathy that spurs action! — and that I want to make a difference for Him, WHEREVER my harvest fields happen to be?
Make a harvest today. In your school. You office. Your neighborhood, church, and home. A harvest of bold, Christ-centered, unashamed, love. And in this busy mid-week, when we are tempted to think that our effectiveness is minimal, our reach small, and our voice humble… Lord, may we be reminded it’s YOU who makes our effectiveness whole, our reach insurmountable, and our voice holy!
Find a field wherever you can be used and start the harvest right there — you never know how He plans to use your reach!
