“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly, To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?”
—Micah 6:8 (NKJV)
I’m loving this “journey” theme we’re exploring in the month of October. Maybe it’s because of the inspiration all around, but these#WednesdayWisdom posts keep coming back to it. The fall colors, the sweets scents and the first cool breath of October breezes all around… They just urge me to walk. To get out there and live life outside of my comfort zone. I want to grab a pair of boots, a pumpkin spice latte, and just… GO!
But I think this verse is saying something different today.
Yes, we walk with God. Yes, He will take us to places of discomfort if it means growth in our spiritual maturity. And Yes, He will walk with us in each step of the unknown. But what I’m reminded of today is though we may step onto new paths, we still walk with comfort, for HE is our comfort zone.
When the rest of the journey is uncertain, He’s our safe place to fall. When the walking gets raw and real and messy in all the worst places (and seemingly, at the worst times), He’s our haven. I’m reminded as we submit to Christ’s authority, majesty, ability, mercy and grace, that He will show us what is good. He will show us paths to take that have nothing to do with politics, or news, or social media updates. He’ll show us the good that’s all around us. In people. In hearts. In hands that serve and feet that go in His Name…
I hope the great walking of our mid-week carries on into the weekend.
I hope it’s restful, sweetly scented, touched by cool breezes, and whispering of contentment when we’re at His side.
I hope we can get out there and walk with Him, maybe a little bit more than we usually do. I hope there’s extra time in our schedules. Freedom in some quiet moments. Peace through the changing of seasons. And yes, I hope there’s actual walking while we’re “walking”, because He’s ready to take us to new places with Him.
Walk boldly today!
