Wednesday Wisdom – HIS

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” —2 Chronicles 16:9 (NKJV)

It has always been my hope that this page would serve as a community based not on what divides us, but on the convictions that tie our hearts. It’s been a place for “Vintage, Fiction & Faith” from the start. Though we don’t comment on politics here, I know your heart may be heavy for our country in the coming week. Perhaps you’re concerned for the generations to come. Maybe you too have had a few sleepless nights over the outcome of next week’s big decision. Your heart may be troubled, and your house may be divided.

In the midst of that haze, can we take today and share one unifier this political season? Jesus.

If we’re troubled, we can and should press in to Him. We’ll find ourselves reassured in His love for us. We can lean on His wisdom at this time. We’ll seek Him and are assured that we’ll find Him in His Word. (Matt. 7:7-8)

I pray He’ll remind us to slow our speech. That if we’re thoughtful with the words we say, beloved relationships may not fray at the edges or fall apart completely… Maybe, just maybe, no matter the outcome of the next week, each of us can be reminded with confidence that He is still in control.

Maybe we just need the reminder that we are HIS. Despite the differences. What unites us is far stronger than checking a box in a voting booth. The compassion we have for others, the empathy that moves our feet to action, the love that we show to those who so desperately need it… these are Godly things. These are the hallmarks of God’s children. These are our weapons in a divisive season.

So rest easier this week. (And post not, perhaps?) Keep your eyes keenly focused on the fact that you are loved, you are HIS, and He is more than ready to show you both.

Because we’re still HIS (no matter the outcome),

  1. Kristy: I want to thank you for your beautiful web site. I am always anxious to read your newsletter. I am now doing bible study and hope to be involved in verse mapping at my Christian bookshop when it is next scheduled. Your words are so refreshing in such a troubled world. They help keep me focused on what is most important in my life, Jesus. Also I am a BIG fan of your books. Thank you again for everything you share with others. God bless

    1. Dianne ~ I am so glad you stopped by today! Thank you, sister. And please do share how verse mapping is going in your area. I’m excited to see an online community of verse mappers grow – more on that soon! 😉 Sending hugs your way!
